Judy Bryant was born in England and grew up in New Zealand, where she studied architecture at the New Zealand Technical Institute and subsequently worked with some of that country’s most innovative architects. In 1975 she moved to Ohio where she began to study acrylic painting and Art history. Moving to Toronto in 1980, she studied life drawing at the Ontario College of Art and pursued her Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Toronto (completed in 1984). Her architectural background is evident in her composition and layering, her flexibility in working with different media, and her consideration of space and movement. Judy Bryant lives and works in London and is actively involved in stage and costume design for theatre, dance and performance groups.
